Challenging council parking fine

OK, I got a parking ticket from the council which I've initially challenged & the challenge has been rejected. For various reasons I won't go into, I think the ticket is dodgy and if it went to court I stand a reasonable chance of contesting it. My question is - after the initial rejection of my challenge, how quickly are they likely to start slapping on extra charges and issuing a summons? I'm thinking at this stage I'm going to play to hardball & challenge again to see if they forget about it on the grounds I might just win, but if it looks like it's actually going to go to court I think I might just pay.

It doesn't go to court and 'summons'! I suggest you read the rejection letter and the back of the PCN which points the way ahead. It goes to second stage NTO, if this was a windscreen PCN at first, and then adjudication (a meeting) if you proceed further. Most people win who go to adjudication over a PCN. No court, not unless it's a Council that doesn't issue decriminalised notices (rare).
Post on pepipoo for help to win it, most people do:

They need to see both sides of the PCN, all the blurb on every page of every letter.
And almost everyone gets a rejection letter at first - it's just a matter of ignoring the discount bribe. As long as you are the owner/keeper you have more appeal stages.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
