Smile o/d and late payment marker

Hi
I have a Smile (Co-op) account with a £500 overdraft. On my credit file it shows as green ticks/blobs as far back as I can see. Over the years I have usually been up to but not over my overdraft although once or twice I probably have gone over a little. I notice though that in one month last year when I went over my overdraft by about £12 they marked my credit file with a late payment marker. Is this common? I dont have a pre-agreed payment amount so can I be late with a payment?
Thanks

On an overdraft the equivalent to a late payment marker is used to state either you have gone over the overdraft limit in the month, or that the bank have been forced to bounce items to keep you within your limit.
This is explained somewhere in the credit reference agencies guidance.
Not all banks will always report, and some seem to only report when it happens more than once in a short period.

Good advice from Tixy.
