chaucer direct rant

Ok i purchased a car this saturday and insured it online with chaucer, all ok or so i thought.
received a email today requesting that i send over a copy of my licence and the V5 certificate within 7 days (14th jan) or they will cancel my policy.

so now i am at the mercy of the previous keeper to post off the transfer of ownership and the DVLA to send me a new certificate by then.

I phoned chaucer and they advised that there are no exceptions and the documents must be with them within the 7 days.

i cant believe a insurance company has not come across this problem before and put into place some sort of leeway, i mean its not as if im trying to deceive them i just cant physically send them something i dont have yet.

I've not dealt with Chaucer for a few years, when I last did they had a link up with the DVLA where they could check for undisclosed convictions etc and check the car details declared were the same as the DVLA have logged.
