Some of you may remember me posting in the past about the pond we were building. Well it did finally get finished and eventually I manged to sort out some photos!

The pond is over 8,000gallons and subject to quite high levels of filtering. This took us nearly 3 years to build as we did nearly everything ourselves, only getting help with the electrics and waterproofing. Im sure a professional would have built it much quicker!! but it was enjoyable to build and we probably appreciate it all the more.
Loads more photos of it here

Nice job. I particularly like the "window". The rubber ducks, not so much.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Wow. Just wow. I thought from the pics that you must live somewhere like Madeira, but just looked at your blog and the initial pics look awfully like Blighty.
You have worked SO hard and everything looks like it's been done properly with lots of attention to detail.
You mention in your blog the place where you sourced a lot of the rock and stone but I can't see where it is - can you please post their website here in case it's near to me?
PS This is from someone who who doesn't like koi carp or jungly plants....I'm still not wild on koi but you've converted me plant-wise.__________________________________
Did I mention that Martin Lewis is a god?0 -
Wow that's amazing! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to build? I would love to have something like that in my Garden!

Our garden is in Bedfordshire.
The rocks came from the Rockery Centre - http://www.therockerycentresandy.com/ very helpful and allow you to get just what you need. We checked every slab/rock etc we bought - my other half is a bit picky!0 -

We never actually worked out the cost, as it was over quite a long time we waited to have some more money or materials for the next stage, hunting ebay, and freecycle for plenty of the materials used. To be honest im not sure I want to work out the cost, its not an inexpensive project but I think we got the end result for the best price we could have managed.
We saved on skips by reusing all the soil dug out to create the raised beds. Despite digging out something in the region of 20 cubic meters of clay/chalk and soil nearly everything was re-used. A small amount was taken to the local tip.0 -
I too keep koi and other fish, BUT, just how does this fit with a moneysaving forum?
OK, it's not money wasted in your eyes, but what aspect of it did you win on the dice??I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Your fish live in a bigger home than I do!!0

Martin always says that the site isn't about penny-pinching throughout your life but saving money where you can so that you can spend it on things you like. The enjoyment that this garden and pond must give is well worth whatever it cost.0
