British Gas now reducing prices by 3.2%
British Gas are now reducing Gas & Electric energy prices by 3.2% from 1st Jan 2014 !!
Has anybody heard about this, I haven't seen it on news, as it would be big news ?
I received letter last October saying prices were increasing from 23 Nov 2013.
Was checking tariffs online, noticed Standard Tariff rates were cheaper than in my Oct 13 price increase letter.
Phoned British Gas today, there is an automated message that Gas & Electric prices are now decreasing by 3.2% from 1st Jan !!

Yes. Anyone who watches the news or reads a paper will have heard about this. This is not new news - it was announced weeks ago that alterations to green tariffs would result in some tariffs being adjusted.
The only news is that suppliers are now starting to announce when the changes kick in (and to which tariffs they will be applying them.)0 -

Price increases for each energy company were big news.
Not seen any announcement about price decrease for British Gas.0 -
Have you been living in a hole in the ground?
Its the government reducing the amount of green crap on energy bills, that will now be paid for out of general taxation.
So far only British Gas and SSE are passing the whole cut on to all their customers.

is there anyone on BG that have received their new prices with the reductions?
by that I mean what tariff are you on, what were the prices (tariff) compared to the new reductions?0 -
to be honest I thought it was just a one off payment, rather than a reduction on tariffs/price per kwh themselves0

If you read the announcements (or preliminary announcements) you will notice "typical" or "average" is always included somewhere.NittyGritty wrote: »to be honest I thought it was just a one off payment, rather than a reduction on tariffs/price per kwh themselves0 -
I haven't seen any report on BBC or MSE.Have you been living in a hole in the ground?

This would normally be massive news, as each energy companies price rise was reported on BBC & MSE.
I certainly don't read Daily Mail and never go to Britsh Gas website, except today.
I can't find anything on BBC website, which is surprising to say the least
Maybe they are keeping it quiet, as it will look like they increased prices too much in November.0 -

You need to try harder.;)
"British Gas owner Centrica said it would cut bills by £53 in January, two months after a £123 price rise for the average dual-fuel customer."

So sorry, did not realise you took such exception to the Daily Mail. Perhaps this article in the leftards bible is more to your taste.
