Gawd, I have to lie down after changing a single, I'd probably need emergency services if I attempted a superking!

We use two single duvets... OH took my share of the super king size duvet. Marital harmony now. Well apart from the snoring!

If you find a cure for the snoring that doesn't involve a custodial sentence, please share will ya ?

I had the same problem with our SK quilt. I struggled with it for years. Since I have not been well enough to be able to deal with changing the bedding on my own OH got involved with helping. He said I had got it in the wrong way and of course I said I hadn't. He measured the quilt and surprise, surprise I had it in the wrong way:( I now have an arrow drawn on the label that shows which way the duvet goes into the cover
  • When my son was younger and wet the bed his duvet was in a waterproof cover and then the two together went into a normal duvet cover. I found that the duvet and waterproof cover used to finish up in a scrunched up heap in the middle of the outer duvet cover.

I got round the problem by putting ties on the corners of the duvet and loops of tape on the inside corners of the duvet cover. When I changed the bed I used to thread the ties through the loops at the top of the duvet cover to join the two top corners together. Then I pulled the duvet cover down over the rest of the duvet and tied the bottoms corners together. It used to work very well.

Alternatively if you can access all round the bed you might be able to put the cover on the way I get my king size duvet cover on.

I lay the duvet on top of the bed, as it will be when sleeping in it. Then I put the cover on by putting one top corner over the duvet and then walk round to the other side of the bed and put the second top corner into the cover. The duvet cover is still a bit scrunched up and just covering the top of the duvet at this point. I then pull the cover down over the duvet a bit at a time each side until I have pulled it all down and it is completely over the duvet.

This way I don't have to lift the whole duvet except when I lay it onto the bed in the first place. It does mean walking from side to side of the bed a bit but I find it much easier than trying to manhandle a large bulky duvet.

Oh, I am so relieved to read all this. I imagined that I was the only person in the world to puff, pant, curse, sweat, push, pull, shake, climb inside, run from side to side, did I mention curse? And that's only on a double duvet. SUPERKINGSIZE???????

Excuse me, I have to go and lie down in a darkened room at the very thought.

:T to everybody for your great replies.

I've now tried 'turning the duvet around' to see if it fits better the other way around - but that's a definite 'no-no'.

I DO agree about the duvet being a 'bit short' - in fact it's about 4ins shorter than the cover :(. Nothing I can do about it now though - I bought it just less than a year ago - but this is the first time that I've tried putting the two together for the extra winter warmth.

Think I may have to resort to some kind of 'internal securing' of duvet(s) to the inside of the cover. I'll check out the 'duvet donut thingies' - otherwise it'll have to be tapes with 'press-studs' inside the corners and half-way along the top edge .....................

Can see me having my work cut out for me this weekend - I've got three sets of covers ........... :rotfl:

Thanks again, everybody - Lilyplonk xx

Firstly, start with your duvet cover inside out. Put your hands into the inside out duvet and find the far corners. Grab the corners of your duvet from "inside" the duvet and shake it the right way out over the duvet.

You could also use kitchen food clips on the corners of your duvet cover once on to hold the duvet in place inside.

The trouble is I can't shake the duvet out from the corners...it's over 8ft wide...I can only shake it from the middle. And when using both duvets, not only is it unwieldy but it's heavy too.

I have to lie the duvet on the bed...put in one corner....walk round to the other side of the bed and put in the other corner then pull each side down - making sure the middle section of the duvet is inside the cover then I put the bottom corners in and straighten everything.....shake the duvet and then fasten the cover.

However our bed is a superking and I absolutely love it even if changing the cover is a pita.

    I don't change the duvet cover - that's deffo DH's job!:D

bluebag I find Mr LW's snoring subsides if I gently tell him to turn onto his side - he complies without actually waking up, and peace ensues (well, til he shifts back onto his back in his sleep).

I have a super kingsize too but I stand on the bed and kind of shake it out whilst it's on the bed. Mine is only a lightweight one though so I could see how it would be more difficult with a heavier tog. I do love my super kingsize duvet lol
