Not sure if it's just ME ..................
I bought my dream King-Size Bed last year. As I like 'plenty of overhang' in my bedding I also bought a new Super-Kingsize 'All-Seasons Duvet' (ie 1 summer/1 autumn that join together) and managed, eventually, to buy Super-Kingsize covers. Great so far!
However, when changing the covers, I have such a faff! I've discovered that the duvet and the covers aren't quite the same measurements PLUS I find that the middle of the top of the duvet frequently 'won't stay in it's place' within the cover
.
Have just had an almighty battle - and subsequently the first row of the year with OH - to join the two duvets together (to make 15tog in total) and get them back inside the blasted cover .
I'm now racking my brains to come up with a 'workable solution'. I'm determined NOT to go back to the Kingsize Duvet & Covers as these new ones did not come cheap
At the moment, I have in mind to attach some lengths of tape to the inside of the duvet cover (stitched along the seam stitching) and also attaching similar tapes to the corresponding position in the middle of the top of BOTH duvets - may need to also do similar with bottom / sides / corners.
Can I have some opinions on this solution please?
Or some alternative solutions, please - if anybody has found something else that's worked for them?
cheers - Lilyplonk x

When you say "lengths of tape" do you mean velcro? Because that could work.
My summer duvet is Super Kingsize and I can't say I've ever had any problem getting the cover on it properly. Is the problem mostly when you have both joined together so the duvet is extra thick?0 -
Thanks for responding so quickly, polly .................
I wasn't actually thinking of Velcro as I don't like the stuff - more along the lines of ordinary white half-inch cotton tape, so that I could tie the duvet to the inside of the cover to secure it.
It still happens when there's only ONE duvet in the cover as well, but it seems worse with two - possibly because of the extra weight. It just seems that the cover is a bit bigger than the actual duvets. In fact, it's the same with ALL THREE DUVET COVERS that I've bought. Maybe my duvet is slightly 'under-size' .................. - gonna have to get my tape measure out :undecided.
Have just measured .........
duvet - 98ins (248.9cms) wide x 80ins (203.2cms) long
cover - 98ins (248.9cms) wide x 84ins (213cms) long
- so it's the correct width but shorter in length. Wonder if the duvet, when shaken, is dropping down as far as in can get within the cover ............:undecided.
I suppose, if push came to shove, I could hem the top of the duvet cover so that it's the exact length ..................
Given how much the duvets and covers have cost me, it's darn ridiculous if I've actually got to start altering the things ...................

We use two single duvets... OH took my share of the super king size duvet. Marital harmony now. Well apart from the snoring!0
-
I have found that my SK duvet is slightly wider than it is long...it might be worth checking to make sure you have it the right way round.0
-
Thanks for that, mi jardin - I'll try see what it's like the other way around
.
Wouldn't put it past me to have got it wrong !0 -
The large label on my SK duvets is at the bottom (along the short side) so I know it is in the right way. I coloured matching corners of the separate duvets with felt pens.. 2 red corners together, 2 blue corners together.. then OH gives the duvet a good shake into position every few days to keep it in the right place..
I don't get involved with the putting on of the duvet cover.. I'm much to small hahaLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
This happens to me on my king size quilt. So I know what you mean. You kind of get a u shape with a flap of empty quilt cover by your head!0
-
Exactly, meames!
Only I never had the problem with the King-size quilt on my double bed - it's just this SK-size on a kingsize-bed .
Maybe it's something to do with buying the quilt and covers from different manufacturers. I'm thinking there could be discrepancies between different manufacturing companies - as all my kingsize bedding was bought at Asda.0 -

Your duvet looks very short, similar to single or a double in length, they are usually around 200cms and the kingsize and superkingsize are around 220cms in length.....I have one (all seasons) from John Lewis and have no issues at all...apart from it being a pain because they are so wide. I have covers from John Lewis, BHS & Dunelm and all are fine.
They are wider than they are long - 250cms x 220cms.....yours looks about 17cms too short....6 or 7 inches, that will make a big difference when it comes to filling a duvet cover because it won't fit properly.
I would think of returning it if it was a recent purchase.0 -
I use some long plastic grips that lock onto the corners of the duvet to allow me to keep it in place while changing the cover
I have also found these online
