Selling on Ebay

Hi All,
What sort of success have people had on Ebay? I've struggled to sell much although I do have a good rating (although nearly always as a buyer).
My main problem is selling clothes, I have some great designer items rarely worn and even priced at 99p they struggle to go.
How do you find Ebay or is it past its sell by date?

Hiya Cotta if you have any active listings pm me and I'll take a look, might be able to advise.People don't know what they want until you show them.0

I'll use it rarely now.
Fees are too high, (paypal takes the biscuit), too many scammers, can't leave true feedback about sellers and ebay always sides with dodgy buyers.
I really wish there was a strong alternative.Pants0 -

Firslt may I please play the school marm and warn about swapping ebay ids- most of us retain our privacy for a very good reason.
Ebay is certainly not past its sell by date, it is still growing, however the market and the buyers are changing. In the old days I think it really was worth selling anything, now buyers are much more savvy and know that ebay is not necessarily the best place for old second hand bits and bobs.
Again personally, and I think many would disagree with me, personal sellers do worse than business sellers due to sites like this where people believe that buying from a private seller gives them no rights at all.
lastly, it always pays to check your listings, you are competing with business sellers with free (inclusive ) postage, make sure you are not loading your P and p un necessarily just to allow for a 99p start- buyers no longer fall for that one.
I would not be starting good items at 99p, you'll take a loss after fees if you allow for the FVFs on the p and p element, if you can't sell somehting at a decent price then maybe it is nto worth selling. I used to sell our old unused kids toys and other household items we no longer required but found it just not worth the effort by the time you've photographed and described the item, had fees taken away namely the FVF and then the scammers aka PayPal also take a chunk and you've still got a trip to the post office as well... The amount left is not worth the effort in my opinion, so knocked it on the head and give away the items now. Never again !ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)

OH had an old flip phone and an older tomtom satnav, she wanted to put on Freecycle. We put a lot of junk on Freecycle but this time I said "No, lets put them on ebay for 99p n see what happens".
Flip phone sold at £80 and satnav sold at £73 cash on collection. Its a long way from being dead yet as if we can sell our junk for those prices, it beats giving them away.
