childcare grant alleged overpayment from 2007

Hi I am hoping I have posted in the correct place? I am having a nightmare with student finance regarding a childcare grant I received whilst doing a 1yr PGCE in 2007/2008.
I claimed a childcare grant for my 2 daughters. All the forms were sent in on time.
I have had no reason to worry up until now, student finance have announced Iwas overpaid aaround £1000 I have asked repeatedly for a breakdown of this asiI have no records, and no paperwork relating to it. All they do is fob me off. And they have now sent a CCG2 form to complete. I do not believe I have been overpaid, but where do Igo from here?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, just wanted to check you had an LA in 2007, and weren't part of the pilot scheme.

The legislation behind student loans gave the powers to the local authority for that year, so legally, they could be on dodgy ground doing a reassessment.

Submit to the SLC a Subject Access Request for all information related to childcare for that academic year. Request a full assessment history, and copies of childcare forms.

There has to be a reason they've muddled with another LA's work.
  • Thank you I will do that. I will update later.

Please do, if you post up when you've got the information back (They do hold that information, but you have to allow 40 days), I'll take a look over the calculations for you. With childcare, it's a bit harder to give a yes or no answer without the data.
  • Taiko, hope you don't mind I have sent you a PM with an update
