On that basis you like to pay a good price then.
From my research it was a little below what a. Main dealer woud, normally have it on for, however part if this is made up by the fees and tax.
We buyanycar quoted £7.2k on a quick search so it was just to see how they would come down, answer to which is they're actually going up.
As above I think it was an ex hire car, nothing wrong with it just had that feel that it was slightly worn with 20k mileage in around ten months. Balance was it was registered 30th December 2012, so still has two years manufacturers warranty and was on at a round half list price; obviously you wouldn't pay list but at say two thirds of purchase price after a year of slightly above average motoring it seemed as though it might offer decent value.0 -
There seems to be a number of this type of dealer around now. We went to 4Front down on the A23 to look at a Discovery 3, took it for a drive and noticed a couple of defects that needed money spending on them - fairly standard for the age & model but at least £300-400 even if I did it myself. The salesman then pointed out they're just a broker, the price shown is the price you pay and there's a £99 admin fee for the sale.
He wasn't interested in negotiating at all, even re the defects and wouldn't budge on the fee to sell the car, which I wasn't go to pay under any circumstances.0 -

Agreed - not tried it with buying cars, but there have been other things where I literally have nearly walked away - not as a tactic, but because I actually wanted to! - and the other person has just caved in.
Eg I once went to hire a van on a Saturday just for that morning, was told I had to have it until Monday and pay for the extra two days. I said I wasn't interested and would just leave. Needless to say they let me hire it just for that morning!0 -
Interesting, I had the same experience at a local Quicks. (Are they owned by Evans Halshaw?)
Basically was told straightaway that by no means was there any negotiation on the price and got the usual spiel about the 10 thousand and 1 point inspection they had dutifuly carried out (only for the salesman to go and have to get a jump starter to start the car before I could test drive it :rotfl:).0 -

Yes, Pendragon is the parent company.
Another of the companies is Stratstone - so whether in a showroom with a few grands worth of Fiesta and Focus, or a showroom with probably a quarter million of new Jaguar, you get the same word-for-word response from the sales people.0 -
These cars come direct from the auctions, you are lucky if they had had a wash.
40% mark up and straight out.
Why not visit a premier auction and cut out the middleman.
Books show it auctioning at £5250.
Not as if they are any good if anything goes wrong, so save your cash and go to where they get them from .Be happy...;)0 -

Well they are supposed to be a main dealer and there's supposedly two years warranty left on it.
Your pricing shows it losing two thirds of its value in a year, that's a heck of a drop.0 -
