Tesgb parking charge help

I received a parking charge notice months ago for parking late at night in a company car park, which I ignored after speaking to some neighbours and reading threads on here I ignored it, and the subsequent letters regarding it.
Then at the end of November I received a county court claim form from Northampton county court. I replied and filled in the counter claim form which I posted before Christmas - I've now received a letter returning my form as it was received beyond the 19 days allowed (I didn't get a certificate of postage when I posted) and judgement has been entered against me.
So now it's telling me I have to pay £256.88 to tesgb, or if I want to set the judgement aside I'll need to pay £80 court fee.
Is thee any point in me applying to the court or will I just lose another £80 from doing this?
Any advice/suggestions would be really appreciated
Thanks

Get it set aside if you feel you have grounds to defend and a realistic prospect of success. Many people get these set aside and then if the Judge allows the application they get to defend the case properly.

I don't understand what you mean about filling in a 'counter claim' form - almost no-one counter claims re a PCN. Do you mean you sent your defence?

    - what was the wording of that defence?
    - did you get forum help on pepipoo or anywhere?
    - have you stated who the driver was?
    - please tell us the exact dates of every letter starting with the PCN, right through to the latest court letter, so we can see the full timeline.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I wonder when they left the BPA? Pushed or jumped?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I don't understand why you didn't acknowledge the claim online via MCOL and within the 14 days from service which would have then extended the total time to a total of 28 days to file a full defence. MCOL does allow the facility to counter-claim at the same time which can be useful especially if individuals circumstances warrant this (eg. if breach of Equality Act or when issued a PCN at own parking space).

As coupon states please supply a time line regarding dates involved here and yes as Umkomaas states they are now with IPC - as updated on another PPC leaves BPA for IPC thread.

What a shame you left it so late to have a default judgment against you. It is up to you whether to pay the £80 to get this set aside - which will then need to be defended. As you were served the papers but failed to respond in time - (yes including posting late) then you will need to give very good reasons as to why - e.g. you have a valid and good prospect of winning and should be allowed to defend - details
