Options? Item has design fault - replacement not fit for purpose

Hi All,
Just wondering what options I have.
On the 7/7/2013, I purchased a Fitbit Flex from Argos and tonight the band has snapped clean in two.
First thing i did, was search google and it appears that its a problem that lots of people are experiencing, some within a few days, some (like me) in a few months.
It appears that where the band has been made, there is a weakness that is causing the bands to split after a while.
Recognising this fact, im not really keen on getting a replacement, knowing that in a few days, or another few months when im out of warranty, the same thing will happen. The item cannot be used without the band, so knowing that there is a defect, is worrying.
I'll give fit-bit their due, they will offer to replace the band with a new one, but i'll be honest, im not keen on that that, as i don't want to end up with it broken again in a few months with no recourse. It wasn't that cheap (£80).
I dont know what to do, i know if i take it back to argos 6 months later, it would be a battle to get them to refund, but on the other hand, if there is a design fault and lots of failures like this is there anything else i can do?
Any advice?
Thanks
