in Credit cards
we keep getting letters through our door with dodgey foreign names, possibly African names about applying for insurance and loans etc...
No-one at our address has an African name.
Anyone know of a scam trying to get loans and insurance on someone elses property?
and who to report it too

Just bin them - or return not known at this address. It won't affect your credit file if nothing is in your name.0

if someone has applied for a loan using an identity at your address, that could be a serious problem, surely? you don't think think there is cause for concern, zx?0

Loans are individual to people not addresses. As are credit files.
Even if someone was successful in obtaining an unsecured loan using your address but their name you would not be affected by the debt (other than receiving a few letters). You wouldn't be liable for the debt and it wouldn't affect your credit files.
I'd return them as not known at this address rather than bin them but only because that might reduce the number of letters coming.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
You wont have any loans that are not yours. Because they are not yours..
Lots of people get insurance quotes and use a neighbours address. So they can play with the options to see what reduces the price.
I use a house number that doesnt exist. Some sites wont allow it, Only allows from a drop down menu.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

interesting.
a girlfriend of mine has a council house that will shortly have the option to buy. a previous resident defaulted on a NatWest loan, and they have continually sent information to her address, despite being told that he is long gone. i was concerned that the 'address' may have a black mark, of some kind, but from the above it would appear that this will not affect her.0 -
