tips for interview

I have an interview for Starbucks this week, any tips?

I get stuck with the "why do you want this job" questions and "why are you the best person for this job" questions?

also any tips that will help me stand out, apart from wearing a flower pot on my head suggestions ;)

    OP, enthusiasm goes along way in interview, have some prepared questions about the business, i.e what the expectations are of the branch relative to other Starbuck branches in the area etc.

    Ask what the progression is like within the business?

    Basically, even if it might not be your long term aim make it clear you are looking to the future and Starbucks might be for you.

    that's what I would do anyway.

    sorry I should have made it clearer, I would interviewing for a job as a barista.

    Starbucks has........wait for it a HEAD OFFICE too here in the UK so maybe the job was at the head office as the OP never said hence the question

    Customer service, customer service, customer service! Starbucks love it. The barista work is secondary - you'll be trained in that anyway.

    I would focus on:
    * Working well in a team - not being precious about who does what
    * Thriving under pressure (in that they get very busy at peak times, when you're taking lots of orders and getting them right)
    * Friendliness with people
    * Excellent customer service
    * Show some commercial savvy - ie, that at the end of the day you are there not just to make great coffee, but increase sales, and you do that through customer retention, being friendly with customers, recognising the regulars, upselling with each order etc

    And the practical stuff:
    * Being flexible with shifts (esp if you have no other commitments that will take precedence over work)
    * Excellent timekeeping

    Why do you want the job? I'd look at their website and their mission statement and link that to some of the things you say. Eg, one of their 'things' is that every customer interaction with a barista is unique - so play on that. You enjoy customer service, and the relationship with regular customers, and making someone's day! After all, for many people buying their latte each morning is how they start their day, or is their 'special' treat for the week. They're also big on CSR, so I'd play on that. I don't think you need to make it a big deal, but I'd show that I'd taken the time to research more about them.

    Because its Starbucks, over 90% of the jobs I would estimate would revolve around this.

    Though you have a fair point that it could have been another job although statistically unlikely.
