Setting up a NAS box

Hi,
I bought a nas box a few years ago with the idea of being able to access files on there from anywhere else in the house. I tried setting it up when I bought it and couldnt do it as I kept getting IP address conflicts.
I now could do with it working as I am using software for work that can have 2 users accessing the database at a time and will make my life easier.
I have looked online for a guide but I am probably searching for the wrong thing. I have got a BT home hub 3 and I have plugged the nas box into it. It shows as a media player but won't let me access anything else or look at the hard drive on there.
Any idiot proof guides would be greatly appreciated. The software company can sort the software set up for me remotely but I have to have access to the NAS box.
Thanks

You first need the ip address of the nas box. Your home hub should have a page which shows this info.
Then on your pc browse to \\ipaddressofnasbox\ using windows explorer, you should see a folder listing and be able to drag and drop files on.0 -
What is the make and model of the NAS box?
It should have a config page you can access via a browser. It sould let you turn on things like "Shared folders" / "Media" / "FTP" services.Laters

What make and model is the NAS? Most of them will allow you to install apps that manage remote access users.0
