Is £100 still enough?

Like many people I put £100 into a few building societies like the Portman and still have these many years later. Is £100 still enough to qualify for future opportunities or should I be looking to increase my holdings to allow for inflation?

its always worth visiting the web pages of the societies that u hold accounts for every now and again to see if they have launched higher paying accounts either on 100.00 balance or a regular saver that can be opened with 100.00 with say additional nominal 10.00 or 20.00 etc monthly payments required ( usually with ability to make 1 or 2 withdrawals a year) this saves the value of your 100.00 being eroded due to passage of time
always transfer the balance ( or 100.00) from your existing account to the new account rather than close existing account and then open new account, if for some reason a transfer of funds from existing account of society is not allowed eg bmw e-saver account ( newcastle B.S) then open new account with 100.00 first then close existing account thus ensuring full continuation of membership
