My choice also Malta.0

I always had Malta in my mind as Brits abroad like benidorm, no idea why, but I know I'm wrong. It looks nice & that's where we leaning to, thanks0

Corfu. Malta is ok but i find it a bit of a dump with no decent beaches and a lack of decent places to eat. OK so you can go visit Valetta and other places but no, been once and wouldnt waste money on a second visit.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Was worried it was quite small & read elsewhere people using 'dump' to describe some areas0

Malta is good to visit Valetta but as mentioned above
-there are not many good beaches like Corfu.
Malta is the most densely populated place in Europe for its size and therefore is busy with traffic plus not much room for hotel pools which tend to be rooftop versions.0 -
I thought Malta was a bit of a dump too, no beaches as such but we stayed over in gozo and had a lovely time - there are lots of sites to see in both malta and gozo and getting about is easy and its cheap but personally, if you want to go, then look at gozo0

Malta is fantastic. It's not the most scenic of islands if you're into beaches, but it has some lovely places to stay, great restaurants and a huge variety of things and places to see and do. It's absolutely fascinating.
Never been to Corfu so can't comment. The only other Med island I've been to was Cyprus - now that was a dump!0 -
Another vote for Malta, been to both several times - a Greek island is a Greek island, not much to choose between them, whereas Malta is unique with stunning scenery, amazing history, incredible shopping/good nightlife (no 18-25's on a p***-up), lots to explore/do which you'll need all of those 10 nights for, and super food. Pricewise it's very reasonable, the weather is good, the people are warm and welcoming, nothing is so far that you can't reach it by car, bus or ferry including the island of Gozo. Oh and it most certainly does have beaches, sheltered coves and coastal villages, they just don't advertise them too widely. No contest.0

My vote would certainly be Corfu! It's a beautiful island and far exceeded my expectations.
In terms of beaches there are plenty and there are some truly fantastic ones too. Obviously Kavos is to be avoided unless you want to party all night (and get extremely drunk in the process) but there's lots of other great resorts.
Sidari is the second biggest of the resorts, and to a certain extent is a little bit Brits abroad but if you like a lot of entertainment etc at night and a great sandy beach then it's ideal.
My vote would lean more towards Paleokastritsa, San Stefanos (in the North not south), Kassiopi or Gouvia. All of which are suitable for families or couples and all have great beaches and a good selection of tavernas etc without being too british.
There's plenty to do and it's really easy to get around the island if you hire a car or use public transport via Corfu Town. We usually hire a car for a few days and head off to quieter beaches, but if you stay in Paleokastritsa there's a good water taxi service that takes you out to the smaller coves and beaches.
Corfu Town and the Old Fortress are well worth a visit as is the monastery at Paleo just for the views alone, the Aquapark is good too and there's plenty of boat trips too. Nearby islands include Paxos, Pargos and Anti Paxos and even Albania is close enough for a day trip. Take a look at http://www.corfu-trips.com/index.php/tours for more ideas on days out.
Budget wise Corfu is pretty cheap once you're there in my opinion. We travel as 2 adults and a child and rarely pay more than €35 euros total for dinner, which would usually include 2 courses and a couple of drinks each. (wine / beer) Lunch is never more than €20 for us all either.
In all honesty I have never been to Malta and would like to try it but having been to Corfu several times I can certainly say go for it!I am a Travel Agent
