How do I make my DVD player region free?

Hi. I've been on lots of sites looking for a hack code for my LG DVD player model: dvx550, serv no: DV550-p. I want to make it region free, I bought a USA DVD and it won't play. I'm hopeless at this stuff:eek:. Can anyone help. My DVD player number doesn't seem to be on any of the sites I've tried. I've also tried codes and methods for other DVD players to no avail. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Looks useful. I have tried google..lots. Can't find a thing on my DVD player tho. I'm not bothered about understanding it really, just after a quick answer if one exists. Looks like I'll have to burn a disc.

Below is the only known process to unlock the region settings on that model of dvd player.

Make sure there is no disc in it
Turn on by pressing "Power"

) apears an "No Disc"
Press "Pause" on remote and "314159"
"Code" apears
Press "0"
"Code 00" apears
press "enter"
Press "Pause" on remote
Turn off and on

Hello guys,
I need some help to with my DVD player. It's a United DVT 8100 model and I have searched AVForums, DV365.net, and VideoHelp and Google as well , but have not found anything on this particular model. Any help would be most appreciated.

Try this

1. Insert a DVD
2. Wait for the player to display "disc error"
3. Press 1, 1, MENU

Thanks for your response. I inserted the DVD as instructed. Gave 'Wrong Region" message, Pressed 1, 1, Menu and still displayed "Wrong Region".
Really do appreciate all the help I can get on this.
