Just had ours. We hoped to go away but were too skint so just had a few days off with just us and went out for a meal instead.
Can you cook a nice meal instead, and have candle light?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Yes indeed there are. For one anniversary, my fiance wrote me a sonnet about all the places we've been together. It meant more to me than any other present I've ever had and I have to confess, that though I'm usually quite a hard nut, I cried like a baby for hours after I got it.

First anniversary is paper so if you can write a letter telling your OH how much this first year of marriage has meant to you etc I am sure they will love it. As someone else said cook a special ( favourite) meal, candles nice setting etc and just enjoy each other's company.0

Since the traditional 1st year anniversary gift is paper, you can make him a card. Or if you're really creative, recycle old newspapers into a paper mache project (I made my dh a mexican pinata for his birthday a few years ago, he liked it so much we've kept it as decoration in the lounge!).0

The 1st one is paper so write a letter or have fish and chips which is wrapped in paper!
Or write out some 'love vouchers' and dot them around the house.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

OH did a newspaper story about our wedding (he got the details online and the print the front page to look like a paper for you), with a photo and stuck it to the morning newspaper for me to read

It's my first anniversary on 1st July too!!! Looks like the weather is going to be foul - a bit of a change from the glorious day we had last year!
I have made hubby a card with a poem in about how we met, got together etc. but other than that I am struggling a bit...not as much as he is though!
I have thought about getting our fave wedding photo done up as a pencil sketch or a painting - think this might be expensive but I think you can do it on the computer if you have the right software.
If you pick the right photo it would look great in a frame.
Any more ideas anyone? There must be loads of people out there who have had a first wedding anniversary or two

We bought a board game for our first wedding anniversary, started quite a trend - we seem to have loads of the things. May not necessarily be cheap to buy (depending on what you want) but it gives plenty of really cheap evenings in afterwards - oh the memories! (we have been married for 22 years and still play games on the odd evening when we have time!!!)What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
