Can you tell me if this is correct. Example. Last gas meter reading 05530, next reading 05534, does that equal increase of 40 Kwh or 4 Kwh,
I know it looks like 4 but can you confirm.

Also electric

Example 03320 and 03324 is it the same increase again 4 or 40 Kwh.

Thanks in advance.

Major misunderstanding here: gas meters don't read in kWh, they only read volume. They read in 100's cu ft (imperial), or cu m (metric). Your imperial meter has increased by 4 units ((4 unit of 100 cu ft).
The exact kWh conversion is done at billing and depends on the calorific value, which is not a constant, but for your purposes you just multiply by 32, so giving 129kWh's.
Use this for a quick conversion:

Electricity meters read in kWh, no conversion needed, so 4 units is 4Kwh's. (3324-3320 is 4, not 40).
