Forgotten Passwords

I use a few websites (like job ones) where you have to join them to post your CV etc. Unfortunately I have forgotten some passwords :(

When I go to the "forgot your password" tab and type in my email address I never get an email to confirm my password (Yes I have checked my spam folder).

It's happened a few times and just wondered if someone can shed some light?

Are you 100% sure you registered on those websites using that email address?

100%. when I put in my email address I get a note saying "password confirmation email sent". When I put in a made up email I got "no known account with that email".

Depending on which browser you use, the passwords for some of the websites may have been saved.
Look at Nir Sofer's password utilities, probably WebBrowserPassView, which might assist (the actual Download is near the bottom of the WebBrowserPassView webpage).

Did you use a different email address to sign up?

Do you use easy to guess passwords, that might have allowed someone to hack your accounts and change the email address to one of their own?

Once you've finally figured out how to log in, use a proper system for storing passwords, e.g. KeePass
