PPI from old Beneficial Finance loan

Hi, new to this forum.

I took out a loan for about 9k around 2002/3 with Beneficial Finance, I just phoned HSBC who are administering claims for that now defunct company. They told me their records only go back six years, and unless I can produce the account number or documentation (which I do not have) then they can't help me as the account would have been deleted.

My queries are -
1.Claimback companies are claiming no account numbers needed to get a refund through them. So at the mo that sounds tempting despite their 25% fee.
2. I banked with Barclays at the time, account has since been closed. Could I ask them to trace my old account for the direct debit and settlement details for the BF account number all payed through my old Barclays account?
3. Is there any other way I can get the required details? I would imagine I would get a nice refund from a 9k loan!

I have only just jumped on this PPI claim back think , didn't really know what it was all about!

Many thanks and hope you can help

They have no way of producing the detail you require that you cannot get yourself for free. If the Bank no longer have details of your finance then how can a Claims Company?

That would be normal. In theory they could go back through every single document passed on by Beneficial but there is no requirement to do so and a Data Subject Access Request would not put an obligation on them to do so.

They can claim that money grows on trees - that does not change the fact that it doesn't. If nobody can find any evidence then there is no chance.

You could try a Data Subject Access request to Barclays. It will cost £10 but you may well run into the same problem.

    One of these
