Bothered and Bewildered

Options
I have been self-employed since 1993 approx. in this time I have taken out numerous loans and credit card. I have recently been approached by the claims advisory group about claiming back loan and card ppi. But I thought before I filled in their forms I would check out what MSE had to say.
It seems I should try to handle this myself but it just seems a mountain of a task. I can only find my most recent loan agreement, so I have started by downloading my credit report from Equifax. and the PPI Consumer questionnaire.
As I can't remember who's PPI I agreed to and who's I didn't is it even worth me continuing with this?

Claims advisory group get poor reviews on MSE.

If you use them, they will still need you to obtain the data yourself.

You also need to remember that if no data survives you will have no evidence to prove your case, even if you did have PPI and prior to 2005, unless the firm that sold it subscribed to the General Insurance Standards Council's code of practice or was a member of an Ombudsman Scheme that covered its advice and sales of general insurance, it is unlikely that you will have any luck.

just as it would if you used the claims company. You would need to supply them the information. So whether you DIY or use a claims company, you still need to do the work. The claims company wont do it and cant do it as they wont know who to complain to unless you tell them the details.

Most credit agencies will retain data on the last 6 years. So, long term history is going to be totally down to your memory and record keeping.

And your memory will not be sufficient to cause a complaint to be upheld if there is no hard record of it.
