LV= renewing before due date

I have been with LV= for a year for house and contents. They recently wrote to me to say my renewel date is due. As the date is the 9th I thought I would have time to shop around as I still havent found the best deal. They have sent me another letter thanking me for renewing. They say as Agreed i will automaticly be renewed.
Have I still the right to cancel or haggle before the due date . Surely I have that right. I took it that if i left it past the dealine they would renew but they seem to be doing it before.

Need to read the letters carefully about what they actually say rather than just scan reading them which can give a different impression.
You dont want to cancel, you want to allow the policy to lapse and thus avoid cancellation fees etc. Assuming there is nothing untowards in your policy then you should still be in time to advise them that you want it to lapse on the 9th rather than autorenew0 -
Ok thanks. I have seen a LV= offer on moneysupermarket that is a bit lower than my renewel quote so I could ask them to match it. I want to stay with LV= if I can as they are one of the better quality insurers.0

Swinton renew 30 days before the 'usual' date - it appears LV do this too. Whether to catch you out or not is anyone's guess - but if they disclose they do (and I recall I saw this on an earlier quote) you have no argument.
As for asking a price match - as you've renewed, that ship will probably have sailed. It is better to confirm you wish to cancel auto renewal, and remember you've got work to do next year!0 -
That's a bit of a con then isn't it. I am sure I have the right to not take it before the expiry date.0

Hubb it could be a case of documentation being issued a few days before the renewal date. The company I work for does this. It ensures that you receive the certificate of insurance before the commencement date but we debit the money on the day of renewal.
Just ring up and ask! We can discount renewals after the day!0 -
They have quoted me £143 for house and contents. I see the cheaper off for the same for £99. Will it be too ambitious to haggle to that price ? The reason I ask is I don't want to phone their 0845 number as I am on Sky talk and will cost if to no avail.0

Put the 0845 number into 'saynoto0845' see if they have a geographic number.
It's not always prudent to go for the cheapest insurance.0
