Putting my mortgage on a diet

Slowdown, Tilly Tidies sound like a good solution for you. Basically every day you rounds all your accounts down to the nearest £ and pay that off the mortgage. Tiny amounts but they do add up and make a difference. Plus they are fun to do and keep you motivated
.
And make your annual mortgage statement (when you get it) run into many pages..... it looks fantastic!!:rotfl::rotfl:

. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

After being pleased to have saved on my car on Thursday I wasn't so pleased that I was going to have to pay £30 for a new wing mirror glass that got smashed by a nutter driving too fast on a country lane. However after an eBay trawl I managed to bag one for £7.99. I was very pleased.
I have bought my oil for the doors but only got round to doing one side of a bedroom door. I have almost finished a cushion I am sewing for a friend and I'm part way there with the other one.
I was hoping to sell some items on eBay but no one has bid yet and they're running out of time so I don't think I'll be making anything there:(
Anyway I will soldier onward and upward.
Kind regards

Well Done on getting a new wing mirror for a good saving - but Grr! to the driver who broke it
What are the cushions like that you make? It sounds like a fab skill to have
I always enjoy making an overpayment to the mortgage

Hi DedicatedDFW
Thanks for dropping in. And you are so right:mad:to the lunatic driver. I was very annoyed. It was actually quite dangerous as my window was open and the glass shattered into my lap and across the dashboard. But all is well now I have my shiny new one!
I design all the cushions I make and sew them on my rather splendid machine that I bought with club card vouchers. They are all individual and I often use them for presents. I like to use feather pads in them as it makes a big difference. I made my nieces big ones each for Christmas with Union Jack designs in pretty fabrics and they loved them. I'm currently being paid to make second lot for a friend. I enjoy it and it makes me a few bob every now and again.
I have to say that making an overpayment is an enjoyable experience. Today I made £9 on eBay so that will be going on there too!
The mortgage diet seems to be going a lot better than my own I can tell you!
Kind regards

Hi gallygirl
Thanks to you and Greent I am now really looking forward to April 1st when I can unveil my mortgage statement! If it's long enough I might use it as a scarf for a few days to remind myself what a difference it makes to overpay!
Kind regards

Except for the Oyster card money my son needs to get the tube, I am clocking up another no spend day. Woohoo:T
I have been dipping into lots of diaries to see what everyone has been up to on their MFW journeys to get some inspiration and there is plenty there.
Haven't had any more offers on my eBay stuff though:(
Kind regards

Haven't been on for a few days so thought I'd check in. Haven't paid anything off this week even though the weekly shop was under budget by £10. Hubby had a mad moment in waitrose and spent an extra twenty but came home with plenty of bargain meat. Should have enough food for a while now.
Hopefully I will have a bit of extra to pay off this week as I will have finished my cushions. Once I've put back into the account for materials I should be able to knock off another £30 or so. Hooray.
Looking forward to that. Also went to a friends house for coffee today where we would usually go to the garden centre for a drink so saved a couple of quid there which I will add to the payment.
Kind regards

Just paid off £50 from the mortgage. :jMy friend gave me a very generous sum for my cushions so I was delighted to say the least. They were a bit tricky but looked fab when finished.
So I think I have fed my mortgage £250 this month and I still have next weeks shopping to try and save on this month. In total I have made £550 of overpayments since the end of last October.
:T:T
Kind regards
