oh good tip carriebradshaw I am planning on lots of nettle soup and nettle wine this year so could save the holey glove for nettle pulling!

I use my old rubber gloves in the garden, having small hands I find them easier to work with than 'proper' gardening gloves (for all but the prickliest of plants!).0

The Complete Tightwad Gazette - Amy Dacyzyn (sounds like 'decision') I think mine costs £14 from Amazon with free delivery. However, you can buy used copies from America.0

if you're a gardener, they're always useful for weeding, stone picking, keeping your hands clean when filling seed pots, or coating fences &sheds with preserving liquid.0

You usually always wear out the right glove if you are right-handed and the left if you're left-handed. Always save the glove that isn't worn out. Turn it inside out and use it with the 'good' glove from your other pair.
I have also read (Tightwad Gazette) that you can cut a patch from the cuff of your rubber glove and glue it, with a water-proof glue, over the hole.
Or mark your gloves in some way and use them for other jobs around the house, such as shoe polishing.
Budgeteer I found an old pair of washing up gloves and followed your advice this morning!!
A perfect pair of gloves and dry hands again
Thanks again for your tip you've saved me some cash x

when they are beyond use, slice the cuff bit into rings and use as good strong rubber bands in the garden. Worth keeping a few of the fingers, so if you get a cut on the tip of your finger you can put a plaster on, then the rubber glove finger and tape that round so your cut is water protected.0
