washing machine - repair/replace

I purchased a washing machine and just before the warranty ran out 7 months ago it developed a fault so rang up someone came out and fixed it and I had another years warranty put on it.

Since then it developed the same fault again and once again it was fixed - this was around 3 months ago and now it has developed the same fault AGAIN!

Is there anything I can do or do I have any rights on getting a replacement machine? Its getting annoying (and expensive with launderette trips, time of work waiting for engineer etc) that it keeps breaking and then i have to wait a few weeks before anyone comes to repair it.

You haven't told us who you rang, nor have you said where the 'someone' who came out came from.
    Manufacturer or retailer?

Can I suggest you read MSE's Consumer Rights guide?

In there you will find that you have rights with whoever sold the thing to you for up to six years from purchase.

Here is just a short quote from that article:
    Know who's responsible

When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!

If a company fobs you off by saying “go to the maker instead”, it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.

It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with them.
