You'll need to get the information from your IT department, or if you already have your work email set up on another computer/phone, you should be able to get it from there.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

It would be pretty unusual to be able to log on (directly) to a work e-mail server via the internet, I would have thought you'd have to connect to the work intranet via a VPN first.

    Seriously?
Then how do most business mobile phones manage to get work emails on them?

Can you normally access your email through a web browser..

i.e. I can access mine using webmail.COMPANY.co.uk/Exchange, where then put my username as the DOMAIN/Name and my password to get into it..

If so then should be able to add the account on Iphone \ Ipad I think using the Exchange section..

Obviously should check this matches your works IT policy - especially if you were to lose the Ipad with confidential information on there...

I have mine setup for Email & synch work calendar so easier to arrange things (avoid the contacts settings as that would add >5000 people to my address book)...

Well in my case I have to have VPN software running on my phone. Every company e-mail system I've had to use in the last 15 years has behind the company firewall for direct access. The only exception to this was one that made a web interface available.
