Birthday present idea for my Dad's 70th

Options
Hi all,

I'm after ideas for my Dad's 70th in June. He is retired, doesn't go out often, doesn't have any hobbies and spend most of his time in front of the tv complaint that there's not much on.

I have contemplated a weekend away in a nice boutique hotel with his wife.

What do you lovely lot think?

Thanks in advance

  • By the way you have described him, a weekend away would not be something he would particularly enjoy.

How about a subscription to SKY/Virgin/Now TV/Love Film - they way you describe him is that he enjoys watching TV (but is bored with what is currently shown).

A new TV, DVD or Blu Ray player?

A collection of DVD's of films TV series that he does enjoy (most can be sourced fairly cheaply on amazon/ebay/Play)

He has a subscription to bt for tv, and has numerous dvd's. he enjoys time away, just not going out into the town where he lives, I think he suffers a touch of agraphobia, but pushes himself to visit places for holidays etc

  • What about tickets for a show , a dinner in a nice restaurant ? A night in a hotel with dinner ? Sometimes there are offers online for money off a night away etc . Afternoon tea for two at a country hotel ?

Thanks Scrapaholic, he likes his nights away but he's more of an upmarket suite type. So I best get saving!

    I've been Money Tipped!
For my mum's 75th I hired a car and chauffeur and we took a trip around London to see the old places she used to visit... plus did some of the attractions.

Worth every penny as there was no messing with parking or anything. We were collected and then dropped at each place and collected again when we had finished.

Thanks Nickyj but he is definitely not interested in sport. He may enjoy the limo and the train idea. Thank you so much for your suggestions everyone I really appreciate it x
