Hi There
I bought an XBOX one on my argos card 3 weeks ago and last night it refused to accept any discs. I have spoken to Microsoft and they are telling me to return to the retailer first. Argos say its excluded from their 30 day money back guarantee. If I send it back to Microsoft they will send me a new one but they want another £400 upfront until my faulty one reaches them?
Any help appreciated.

As it is within six months of purchase date Argos has to prove the fault was not inherent. Did you actually state it was faulty when you took it back, as the 30 day money back guarantee sounds like their returns policy and would be nothing to do with retuning a faulty product.0

If the thing is faulty, then Argos cannot deny you your statutory rights... their 30 day money back guarantee is irrelevant in your situation.0 -
Thanks for your help I have just rang Argos and explained the 30 day exclusion and they have offered me a new one!
Thanks all0 -
Perhaps the shop misunderstood you?0

Its more likely a staff member has misunderstood the rules, when I had a faulty phone a while back from Argos they refused to replace or refund despite being days old as they said it looked scratched around the edges so could of been dropped, Took quite a few phone calls to customer service before one told me to return to store for a refund and they already spoke to manager for me.
I also remember buying a 360 5 years ago new from Argos that didnt play discs and had to stand arguing for over 30 minutes as they claimed MS dont let them return consoles and all returns are through them, after arguing for a while they offered a exchange and when I refused and wanted a refund the guy got rude and said I was suspicious for wanting a refund.0 -
Argos are usually one of the easiest retail stores to deal with in regards to refunds and warranties.0
