tv repair help needed

My sister has very kindly given my son her old 56inch sony RM 906 tv, all worked fine when at hers.we have put it in my sons room and it wont work.initially the screen came on and stayed blue.we then switched it of and now nothing. When we press the on/off switch on the tv it goes from an amber light, to green then straight back to red.we have tried pressing numerous buttons on the remote and still nothing, this has not happened to my sister although she did say it could sometimes take a few momentsito come on. Has anyone got any ideas, my son is hoping to use it to play his xbox?

have you tried holding down the remote button for a few seconds. A few TV's require you to hold the Stand-By button for a few seconds.0
