Yes, and also look at booking the campsite directly as it's usually a lot cheaper. Second half of August isn't that expensive in Europe, you should be able to get a good deal. Maybe not AI but then with young kids do you really need AI? Will you take full advantage of unlimited food and drink, if not why pay for it?opinions4u wrote: »Eurocamp, Canvas and many others can offer you this.
Would you consider driving? That would save you the cost of 4 flights as you don't get much if any discount for children these days. Our kids much preferred ferry crossings to flights when they were young. Could go somewhere like Brittany if you don't want to drive far, or even north coast of Spain and get a long crossing to Bilbao or Santander. Or somewhere like the Vendee in France with a Western crossing. You could probably get a mobile home on a good campsite in France or Spain under EUR100 a night or so at that time.0 -
I made the mistake of going to Cornwall in August once - never again! Roads are gridlocked especially on Saturdays with all the caravans, even going out for a daytrip meant sitting in a traffic jam for ages...Voyager2002 wrote: »As for places: at that time of year, Devon and Cornwall are wonderful, while Spain (and even Paris) is just too hot to be enjoyable.0 -
ive just booked a week all inclusive to turkey through onthebeach price was reasonable and low deposit so gives me 6 months to save and pay the rest off. been turkey a few times and would recommend it. ive booked at a resort in alanya which has its own waterpark, beack, sauna etc so shouldn't need to go anywhere or spend anything unless I want to. always gone sc or hb in the past but the price difference wasn't that much and I have the piece of mind everything is paid for0

The phrases "I've booked with On The Beach" and "peace of mind" do not go together: do a search and read about other people's experiences to find out why! Just hope that you are lucky, but be prepared for anything.0 -

With a 6 & a 2 year old and you two not drinking, I'd be surprised if AI is the cheapest option for you.
Why do people think that AI isn't cheapest if you don't drink alcohol? Hubby and I don't drink alcohol, but we always do AI. The cost of buying coke etc abroad is dearer than buying alcohol anywhere we have been. Add to that the cost of ice creams etc for kids and it soon mounts up.
On a side note - we were asked by an astonished fellow traveller last year how on earth we enjoyed a holiday without alcohol!!!
I agree with another poster - Alcudia beach is fantastic for kids - there's miles of it and it's shallow enough for them to play in.0 -

That's not what I said
Not drinking was merely a factor coupled with the age of the kids and the amount they're likely to consume (especially the 2 yr old) I don't reckon AI would be worth it for them.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
You can get litre/2 litre bottles of cola for under 1EUR in supermarkets abroad! Why do people think that AI isn't cheapest if you don't drink alcohol? Hubby and I don't drink alcohol, but we always do AI. The cost of buying coke etc abroad is dearer than buying alcohol anywhere we have been.
Maybe 1.50EUR from a stall? We tend to spend about 60EUR on food/drink per day when in SC accomodation which includes eating out most nights with the odd BBQ (maybe cereal/toast/eggs from breakfast & sandwich for lunch). But our kids are a lot older, it'll be cheaper with younger kids. Not actually sure how that compares to AI, I guess AI could be cheaper if you eat at the hotel every night, but for us a major part of the holiday is finding local restaurants and eating the local food.Add to that the cost of ice creams etc for kids and it soon mounts up.0
