DLA application time

I applied for DLA for my son in June 2012- and the decision was made in Dec 2013 - that's 18 months - despite me providing vast majority of info/paperwork from Day 1.
It seems at every stage the application seemed to be inactive and activity only occurred after i would make a a phone call enquiring about progress
I am now at final appeal stage- and i asked record of proceedings - but forgot to request full judgement - which i then did later and my final appeal was rejected due to time limit.
However, an advisor stated they were wrong to do this because they should be automatically aware that originally requesting record of proceedings meant sending full judgement aswell.
I have applied for time extension - but that was over a month ago and i have heard nothing since and have had to send them a reminder email
I appreciate that they have to make their checks and there is a backlog on Tribunals but i am trying to gauge if this is an acceptable time frame for the whole matter?

Your post is rather confusing. You say you are at final appeal stage - has your case be heard by the tribunal? If not, when was the original decision made by the DWP?
Who is donnie?0 -
Yes it has been heard by Tribunal
"final appeal stage " should have said "The Upper Tribunal "
DWP made their decision Oct 2013- 16 months after application0 -
16 months for a DWP decision is a long time. When was the tribunal? Two months is incredibly quick for a first tier tribunal, are you sure your dates are correct?0

Yes -sorry the whole matter has confused me
DWP decision Oct 2012 - nearly 5 months after application ( so i guess this is okay time?)
first tier tribunal was Apr 2013- and was adjourned for medical report from GP - even though record state DWP received one ....in Oct 2012 ..And the fact that the GP has zero contact with my son as he is under care of community paedriticain
Think this is another dead one.0
