To view, you use your log in details as you have been doing, the postbox (outgoing box) has to be the same for them all often post.btinternet.com or mail.btinternet.com0 -
Is the setting labelled "My server requires authentication" ticked?
This page (from another mail provider, Plus net) shows you where to look for that setting. Other settings may be different for BT and Google though, but I think they both need the authentication setting in order to send.

Yes it is
What is odd is that if I go back online using my Virgin router I can sent them - obviously I won't have that for much longer so I have to find the solution of sending using the BT router.0 -

I note from the next page (same URL as macman's above +1)
http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44918
that BT now have separate settings for "BT Mail" as opposed to the older "BT Yahoo Mail"
I believe that the link macman posted is the newer BT Mail, which may be correct given the OP has recently switched to BT._BT_Mail_page_from_my_link wrote:This help is about our new BT Mail service. If you use BT Yahoo! Mail, you can find help here.
If you're not sure which BT email service you're on, click here to check.
But I suggest the OP use this link to check if the BT account is BT Mail or BT Yahoo Mail.

If it's BT Yahoo mail, then the settings seem to be here:http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68760
