Personally, I wouldn't hesitate just to forge the signature in this case.
"I am seriously ill and can't use a phone to call you....
My husband helped me to notice the transactions that I have not authorised...
Please cancel the card for the time being and refund the fraudulent transactions and all related charges ..."0 -

Noooooooooooo... Morally, that puts me in the same position as the thief. However, I am going to try a letter in my name, and request that the Helpful Bank operates the same as the genuinely helpful Dept of Work and Pensions ie a nominated bank employee comes to the house to confirm what I say. It's worth a try.0 -

Don't hold your breath. Banks don't have nominated employees who make home visits.
