Personally, I wouldn't hesitate just to forge the signature in this case.

"I am seriously ill and can't use a phone to call you....
My husband helped me to notice the transactions that I have not authorised...
Please cancel the card for the time being and refund the fraudulent transactions and all related charges ..."

Noooooooooooo... Morally, that puts me in the same position as the thief. However, I am going to try a letter in my name, and request that the Helpful Bank operates the same as the genuinely helpful Dept of Work and Pensions ie a nominated bank employee comes to the house to confirm what I say. It's worth a try.

Absolutely not as you don't steal anything and don't benefit from this in any way. You are acting in your wife's best interests.
And who cares about moral anyway?

Don't hold your breath. Banks don't have nominated employees who make home visits.

    I'd forge the signature.

    Email:

    ross.mcewan@rbs.co.uk the new CEO.

See if one of the executive complaints handlers can give you any help or guidance given your circumstances.

However I'm sure they will re literate the fact you will either need a doctors letter, letter of authorisation or a POA.
