Hi all, I am new to the whole investing scene and was wondering if anyone had any pointers for a complete rookie at it. I have a little spare cash every week and would like something worthwhile to put it in.I already have a ISA and will be opening a Santander current account for savings.
If you have suggestions for reading material, how to get started, who you've invested with and any or all other information that would be worthwhile that'd be amazing of you. Thanks!

All I'd say is take your time and don't rush into anything. Why not work on filling the Santander account while you consider how and where to start investing.
The conversation you need to have is with yourself and what you really, truly want from any investment and why. In my experience that's not always an easy conversation.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
First make sure you've got enough in a rainy day emergency cash fund, which you've already started on. Many people suggest 3-6 months' worth of outgoings.
Then, have you got a pension?
I am a novice investor in S&S, and have invested in one of the Vanguard Life Strategy products, which has a balanced set of investments. Up to about £9K, I think, Charles Stanley Direct was the cheapest website to use to invest in it.0 -

Yeah I've already got that much saved up in the ISA. I don't have a pension yet and not really sure where to start with that but will look into it.
I haven't invested anything before so not sure what websites to even look at! Will look into those though.
Will read back through the logs of past threads. Please delete this thread.0 -
Does your employer offer a pension scheme, with employer's contributions? If so, you'd be foolish not to join it because of tax relief and free money.
The Tim Hale book called Smarter Investing is often commented on here positively for new starters.0
