There are other comp portals but none have the depth/number of comps on here.They also do not have the functionality that we have on here to help track entries & prevent dupe entries.They may have some ways of tracking but it cannot compare to Mse.
My advice is to stick to one site & do not comp off piste,as it were :-)

You need to be very good at record keeping or have a good memory to use multiple sites.Most comps find their way to here in the end so using other sites seems a bit needless in my view.

Some do enter lots for various reasons.We have our own ways of spending our time after all :-)

ETA: If using multiple comping portals such as HUKD,Loquax & Prizefinder how does one tie their functionality in to MSE or any of them?
Am I a bit dim in not seeing how it done?
Surely just using one portal ensures that no dupes happen & that portal should be MSE :-)

If I decide to enter, I click the 'Thanks' button to thank the OP, but will also click the green tick button to show me that I've entered.



By using the red cross and green tick buttons, I can very quickly see the comps that I haven’t yet reviewed. If you click any of these buttons by mistake then click again to reverse the action.

Some comps will void your entries if you enter more than once so I strongly recommend using these buttons to help you keep track.


When you return to the main forum page, you will see which comps you have skipped/entered as they will have a red cross or a green tick.

I must be slow lol. Even with roboform it takes me hours to enter 20-30 comps. Scrolling through, clicking links, captcha, checking theres no "we will share your info" stuff etc.

When I first started I was slow at entering but given a few years and getting into a system and routine you get quicker and more efficient. You find ways to make things easier like snaplinks, tab counter etc.

yes, there are other comp sites that I & some use & they have the facility of tracking/thanking/following the tags for the sites/which ones you've entered so you can't duplicate your entry

as ikkle says above ^^^

I enter hundreds a day but it took me a couple of years to get into a system having several pages open at a time/subscribing to threads/etc,

I only use MSE, as I'm pretty confident that any other comping site would only have the same comps on anyway.


I don't spend all day entering comps, but I spend about an hour to an hour and a half of a morning doing magazine dailies (about 150-200 in total, they're very quick to do), and then dip in and out of the board throughout the day when I get half an hour to myself.. I am selective in what I enter, and probably only enter one or two out of each listed page, most of the board is a sea of red crosses to me. But this still adds up to a minimum of 50 new comps a day that I enter and probably more like 100.

Please note: Don’t reply to the post "thanks" or "just entered" etc. This will bump the thread back to the top of the Forum which can result in eager MSE Compers entering again by accident. This is very frustrating as they can then potentially disqualify themselves. ‘Bumping’ is also against the Forum rules (which I asked you to read in the Introduction). Don't be a bumper!

Before we had these buttons, the only way we could try to keep track was by subscribing to the threads themselves once the decision to enter/not enter had been made, (as well as click the ‘Thanks’ button to show your thanks to the OP). That displays a symbol beside each thread subscribed to. This is not something I would now recommend as it is clumsy and takes a more clicks than our lovely new buttons. (Please see insert below from MSE, as having too many subscribed threads can cause issues).

I must enter 150-200 a day but have still only won 3 things since August. Spent hours on the advents only to have won 1 stella prize.

Sorry to hear you're getting disheartened Hopefully the opening weeks of 2014 will have your postie struggling up the path with wins.


If you are enjoying spending free time entering comps then don't give up, it will happen - honest!


I only started seriously entering comps last summer, and by seriously I mean several hundreds per day (on the days I am able to) and apart from happily doing puzzles in "misery mags" I only use this site as it's so friendly and chatty, it doesn't feel like a solitary hobby when I am here. I seem to win (average) 4 prizes a month and most of those prizes have been tickets to something or the other. A few I have given away, most I have used - I know this going to sound weird but since comping I get out more than I have ever done. Using MSE tips on cheap rail fares I'm having a blast because of comping! These last 6 - 7 months I've been out more than I have in any other year of my life.

I think the OP has the same kind of luck i have. Entered loads recently but i do usually only go for prizes that will be useful. Hair straighteners and spa days aren't my thing
Most of the comps are just a click of a mouse so it's no real effort to enter and a bonus if you do win.
I think i haev one prize on the way but i'm not holding out much hope until i actually receive it.

Prizes for you will be like buses anyway , you'll start to get a few and will wonder why you ever got disheartened
