I'm not sure moving to Germany would help that much - the German economy is only marginally better than ours and they are saddled with the Euro.
But also add that despite their cold winters, they do get good summers, and generally I find the place preferable to the UK (less thugs, more respect, better work ethic etc).

Some inflation is generally a good thing, thats why we have a target of 2% rather than a target of 0.
Inflation is good for the rich, bad for the poor.

If I was sitting up high it was to see the forest for the trees.

You seem to be put off investing as you invested over your risk profile (as you are still resentful of your loss). the only times I have invested in companies that might go down, I was prepared to lose 100%. Once I doubled my money (rail track before they went down) and the other I lost it all. So I have no problems with either as I knew it was a punt and it didn't put me off investing in future.

I still invest, just not as much and given that I was thinking of emigrating, what was the point of investing if that's meant to be more long-term. And who said I was resentful of the loss? I was surprisingly calm about it all (it was a once-in-a-lifetime gamble which I readily took on), my only point being that I don't want to lose that amount of money again. :)

Coincidentally, only the other day i was in conversation with a Cypriot and amongst other things,we discussed the economy. I asked how it could be that the Cypriot Government stole money from people and yet the banking system is still there, people put money in it and there was no civil war as i expected? She just shrugged her shoulders and said,,well you know the people are very easy going/laid back...

Thats how it will be in the UK when they do it.

They will steal your money and no one will do anything because the British are a cowed and subjugated nation.

Agreed. And if you try anything, the plentiful CCTV's will catch your face and you'll be banged up in double quick time. I agree if it happens (which I think it will), we'll just bend over and take it. :(

Is's good for everyone, the economy doesn't work as it should when there is no inflation.

Britain already has a greater percentage of its population in prison than any other country in Europe. The prisons are already so full that most prisoners come out of jail worse than when they went in. So they can't bang all the rioters up. But they can confiscate their assets.
I have to obey the law. If I so much as park on a yellow line they can fine me, if I don't pay they can ruin me with legal fees and ultimately send the baliffs in to seize my house.
To go to court you need to be very poor so they can take nothing away. Or very rich so you can hire a smart lawyer and afford to lose shedloads of money.
Those of us in between, the majority, are f*cked.

The economy isn't working properly at all. I think what you mean is that deflation shatters a few debt based prosperity illusions and stops enriching the money printing elites at everyone else's expense.

The pyramid money system designed to enrich those who administer it is slowly collapsing.

As always max provides a welcome antidote to MSM nonews at ten.

I never said anything about deflation, even very low inflation is bad, that is why the ECB cut interest rates recently. The state of the economy is a matter of opinoin, but you will find it very hard to find anyone with any proper financial/economy education arguing zero inflation is a good thing. Yes I'm aware of the rubbish spouted on the likes of youtube which is deigned to try to get ordinary people into buying things like Silver and Bitcoins at a much higher price than the people promoting bought in at, it's bascally a con.

You don't want to hear anything that might shatter your illusions then, understood.
