"I made the decision last month. I am 66 this year and that has a lot to do with it. I haven't had a holiday since 1992 because we spend all our time on the business so that is the first thing I will do."
Good call Fergus. Enjoy a well deserved retirement. :beer:Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

From the articleThe portfolio has been estimated to be worth £100 million in The Guardian, but the Wilsons say they are optimistic it will raise double that - even after capital gains tax.

PN, why would The Gruan know better than the owner the portfolio value?
I know from reading articles on my own area of business, journalists really are a bunch of know nothings.0 -

The guy has made £100-£200 million pounds, is going to put a big chunk of it in HMRC coffers via CGT (there's no CGT favours from the taxman for businesses involved in property).
At the same time he housed over 1000 families thus saving them from being on the streetz. True he not doing it for altruistic reasons, but that's how capitalism works.
Yet only in this country would he be called tw4t for everything he has achieved.0 -
His main achievement was to hoover up lots of cheap debt.
I think it's a shame we never got to test his business model without extreme government and BoE support, as we will never know now if he was clever or merely lucky.
Wish I'd done it; alas born in the wrong generation.0
