Hi there,
I think the time has come for me to buy a new laptop. I have a Dell Vostro 1500 which is sadly on its way out. It is probably about 8 years old now. My nephew, who is a computer technician has repaired it so many times and has loaded it with Ubuntu as a running system so I understand. I much prefer Windows. I don't think it is worth fixing again.
I have about 100.00 in Amazon vouchers and would be looking on Amazon for this reason. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced, good PC?
Thank you.

It's likely not even seven years old. What is wrong with it?
Why didn't he just reinstall Vista at the time if you prefer Windows?0 -

Thank you for your reply. It is very very slow, two keys are missing, it won't shut down at all and my nephew says that Ubuntu is the best system for old computers? Do you think it is work repairing?0 -

Thanks, that looks great but a bit pricey for me - anything decent around the 250 - 300 mark do you think?0 -
put vista back on, replace keys.!!

Which sequence the Service Tag? It's written underneath the laptop.
Core 2 Duo processor with adequate RAM(at least 2GB) running Vista should be fine....or is it this one?
So if you have less, that is the reason for the 'slowness'.
You can add more if necessary..
New keyboard
The Vista recovery disc is in your Inbox.
Once created, install from boot and format the disc. Look here
Not all of the steps will be the same. (You won't have 5 to 7 as it's a OEM recovery disc)
Choose Home Premium during the install.
You will lose any data currently on the drive, so make a copy of what you need beforehand.0 -
