Good Morning,
I have just been awarded P.I.P (£53 pw),my husband has made a joint claim for Income Support and has also been awarded carers allowance.Could anybody please explain or give me a benefits check as to what we should actually receive each week and also could you please explain about the council tax benefits please,we have no savings of any kind, and what benefits we are going to receive will be the sum total of what we have coming into our household,we do not have anyone else to support in our household(man and wife is all that is in the house.
Thanking you in advance for all your help.
Maureen

I'm not sure on figures, but if you are awarded carers allowance and income support, the amount you receive in carers allowance is deducted from your Income support and you are topped up with Income support.
As for Council Tax Reduction if you are awarded Income Support and it's only the 2 of you in the property you will be entitled to maximum reduction. I work in Housing Benefits in Scotland where we pay water and sewerage through our council tax bill. Therefore people receive the full reduction and only have the water and sewerage amount to pay.
I hope this makes sense.0 -
