Building up credit "rating", coming from abroad

Hello!
I moved to the UK from Norway in October, and currently I am a fulltime employed, with an ok salary (over 30k+).
I currently live in a houseshare, but my ambitions are to buy my own place after a year or so.
Since my credit rating with is literally nothing, (experian says its 419) since I moved from another country I was wonder what is the best way to get a good credit rating so I can apply for a houseloan eventually? And how long will it take me?
Also, I have been trying to get a creditcard to maintain ie pay every time on time. But most application forms keeps asking me where I lived in the past 3 years, and I can't put up my Norwegian address. Is nearly impossible for me to take a lowend creditcard? I know I won't get it with my bank just yet (HSBC).
Thanks!

I know the points from that link.
However, as I mentioned it seems impossible for me to apply for a "bad" creditcard. I also can't register on the electoral roll as Norway is not on the allowed list for that.
I might contact barclays directly, asking them how and if I can apply for a creditcard with them, to start up.0
