Dismissed - Need Two Questions Answered

I was dismissed today - Can’t believe it. I am looking into suing my employers for unfair dismissal. The letter confirming my dismissal states I have five working days to appeal. What I need to know at this stage is (i) what are the most effective grounds for appeal? (ii) if I don’t appeal, will it reduce any employment tribunal award?

Yes, you must appeal. To fail to do so means you are not following procedure and so a tribunal can reduce any award for this.
Cannot suggest grounds for appeal without knowing what you were dismissed for, in their opinion, and why you think you were dismissed. Normally, the two do not match.Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Were you still on a final written warning when the alleged offence took place?0

Basics first: how long had you worked for your employer?0

Is the dismissal related to you (allegedly) telling a client to f*ck off?0

I remember your posts too. Gosh, either it is a blessing that you finally get to work for another employer and move on once and for all, OR... it is definitely time for you to consider your attitude to the working environment before you go for another job.0

Why can't you believe it? Numerous posts over last 12 months about the possibility of you being sacked or made redundant!0

Why do you think I asked whether the final warning had expired? If it hadn't it wouldn't have required anything as dramatic as arguing with a (trainee) solicitor or swearing at a client. On a final warning being five minutes late or looking at the boss the wrong way would have done it.0
