  • Well following a trip to Home Bargains yesterday, I haven't got much of my budget left and will need to go shopping again before the end of the month.

I will still be happy though, as my cupboards, fridge and freezer are well stocked, which compared to last month spending £200, I had nothing left. By picking up offers, bulk buying and freezing leftovers, I have only spend a little more than this but have a few meals already in store for April. We are also away for a few days in April and I've started buying supplies to take with us, so an overspend this month should equal a smaller spend next month.

Nothing like an icy cold wind blowing to welcome the first day of Spring.

£1 on 4 pts of milk was my big spend of the day! £68.52/£180 left for the next 10 days.

I have 1kg of mince in the sc with three onions, 4 carrots, 2 tins of toms, a tin f value baked beans, some frozen peas, a handful of red lentils and a handful of porridge oats.
I have lots of potatoes so just peeled loads to make a shep pie topping! Had all the food in.
The original recipe (500g mince) was to serve 4. We are two adults and two wee ones. So I am hoping with the padding put this will make three meals! The mince was 3.25 so nt a bad price for three meals!

Have also just made a batch of biscuits! The recipe made about 50 so I am going to freeze a handful so I will know for next time. We have all just had 1 or 2 each. Except for hubby who has had 5!, now I just need to hide them! When I told him off, I said 'I've spent ages on those... Don't eat them!' His reply ' why did you make them if we aren't allowed to eat them!' MEN!

It easily made three shepherds pies! We had one tonight and two to put in the freezer. Except we have have an American freezer and one of the ceramic dishes is so big hubby can't get it in! It's too wide for the freeZer! We put it in the fridge and will try and work my magic in the morning!!

    Hi all,
I know it is incredibly late to join this month but I have been reading for a while and only just got organised enough to get my logins.
I am not sure how to manage my budget dates though, we get paid weekly and I shop on the weekend. Should Sat 29th shop be included in March or April?
:hello: Welcome to the GC and hope you find it fun and useful.

We get paid weekly and four-weekly so I just worked it out over the year and divided it into months. I find it easier as all the bills are paid monthly direct debit so do everything monthly and so my GC starts 1st of the month and ends - well at the end :rotfl:

However, on here you should do what is best for you, including what you put in your budget and when it starts and finishes. Just try to be consistent so you don't get in a muddle. If you need help or advice just ask and someone will usually get back to you and good luck with your budgets :D

Managed another NSD today and we had roast chicken dinner with HM roasties, steamed fresh veg, HM bread sauce/gravy. Just the job :T

Have a wicked weekend one and all

Big spend this week £87.34 but this includes food for a big dinner party for BF's birthday.

Got a huge shoulder of pork that I'll slow roast for seven hours and hopefully there will be left overs to make a load of pork ragu for the freezer. :D

  • Haven't updated all month but have been reading through. Can't believe how much it makes u think about what your spending and what your wasting.
My spends for the month have been rather good and think I may come in between £10-£15 under budget. I have impulse bought some bits which I'm going to try and not do next month.
Total so far is £129.78/£150 and should only need milk and maybe bread til end of month.. Yay!
