I'm really pleased - I read somewhere on OS (not sure if it was this thread) that you can use powdered mashed potatoes as a thickener. I have about four portions of vegetable soup I made from odds and ends and it was a bit thin and watery so I put in half a sachet of powdered mash and it thickened up lovely! I had it for my lunch and it was really filling. Good tip whoever posted it - that soup would have been thrown out probably otherwise - it was distinctly unappealing! But now it's yum!
  • Hi all - needed something extra for tea so took OH to Mr Al*i. Easier to buy a lot when he can carry it/ get it home in the car!!

Spent £23.60 which will all be off March budget. Signature updated. Carrying forward the £5.23 I had left from February to get stock items with. Couple in front had a big trolley stuffed to the top and overflowing - only £86!!!

Welcome to newbies - this thread certainly helps keep you on track.

Captain Ladder to do your signature go to Quick links in the green bar above the main heading. Hope that helps.

More shopping will be done on payday - Friday - so will update then.
    July 16 £95/£200
    Nov 16 £0/£200

Hi all can I join this challenge please - I have been AWOL for a few weeks now but I'm back to it. I have had a week or two of spending what I like when I like but im not beating myself up about it cos I used to live like that permanently.
I would like to set this budget as £200
This includes grocery shopping for myself my H2B and DD (6yr old), toiletries, washing products, takeaways, meals out etc. Should be able to stay within target this month - we have loads in so I have no excuses - but it is usually takeaways and meals out that boosts up the spends!

My month with run from today to 27th March
    Good Luck everyone!

    Now up to a total of £23.73;

Bought two Easiyo sachets in H&B in Manchester on buy one get one half price; I know they are the most expensive stockist but we needed a couple of sachets sooner rather than later. Anyone else with a Easiyo where do you buy your sachets? I'm going to see if the multi packs from Lakeland/online work out cheaper per packet I think. )

Hi Lushlifesaver regarding easiyo sachets , I buy from QVC, QVC do in bulk selections, different flavours etc, this includes the drinking yoghurt.
I know we have to pay for delivery but it is convenient, and they do great selection packs. if its just Greek yoghurt selection you can pay around £22.00 for 10 sachets , natural yoghurt its 12 for £20.50 or sachets with bits in is approx 8 for 22.50 ish
    I hope this helps..

Thank you for advise on nappys everyone will definitely be looking on Amazon when it comes time to shop again at the moment I have 4 big boxes to use up. I feel as baby is getting older I would use powder when out and save on the bottles but not a clue how to make them up when out. Breast feeding is so much easier you just wipe out a boob and off you go saves a lot to lol. I am making a lot of recipes from a girl called jack at the moment and its saving me a fortune can't wait to read her book.
I breast fed so can't help with bottles but - on a bus the other day - couple made a bottle using hot water from a flask. I was amazed.

I know what you mean about the convenience of breast feeding we lasted until 8 months when my son gave up and decided bottles was easier, unlike mummy. With the right things it can become quite easy to use formula out and about, tommee tippee make powder pots which fit inside the top of a bottle so you add as much boiling water as you need pop the powder pot in the top with the right amount of powder, when your ready just open pour powder in and give a good shake. We also bought insulated bottle holders which kept the water hot enough for about 2 hours or you can get a flask to keep water hot longer.

Pots cost about £5 for 6, bottle holders about £8 and the bottles are normally on offer for about £10 for 4. They soon paid for themselves compared to the ready made bottles. Hope this helps x

    Hello All

I am knew to this board. I have been posting on DFW the last couple of days as need help.

I have been reading this board, and find it great and useful.

So because I am determined to reduce and save some money on grocries, I am going to do the GC for march :)

I would like to be put down for £280 for the month.

When I done my SOA put down £100 a week, so hoping to cut this by £30 a week. :)

I will figure out how to do my signature. I will be doing this from 3rd march to 28th March.

This is for me, husband 2 sons and daughter :)

    Thanks :)

Please could you put me down for £100 for March.

I have decent meat stocks courtesy of a £30 YS spend and plenty of baking ingredients in. Store cupboard remains pretty empty so we'll see how March pans out. My month will run 1st to 30th.

    Good luck everyone! :)
