I used to work for Nottingham City Council, all the rewires we did were surface mounted, not once in 3 years there did we do a flush job.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

The wiring itself isn't surface mounted, only some of the sockets.0

Sounds like you have single to double socket conversions going on. If so, easy to convert to double flush.
