Claiming Housing Benefit in Shared House

Is it possible to claim housing benefit if sharing a house with other people? Does the landlord need to know? I'm struggling to find somewhere that will accept housing benefit and I am starting to wonder if it is even possible.

It's definitely possible, that's why there's the shared accommodation rate for under 35s.0

Hi,
I live in shared accomodation and claim housing benefit. There was a question on the housing benefit form that asks if they can contact you're landlord. I ticked no, and had no problems with my claim. This was over a year ago now.0
