George7,
I am in exactly the same boat as you - been entering about 20 a day for 6 weeks and won zilch. A lot of people say that it took them a few months to start winning. I must admit this seems a bit odd...why should your 'luck' change after a few months?
A good example is the Ultimate Wii Games Room - it's a daily comp so everyone has the same chance every day, except that some folk have won 2 or 3 times on it and others (like me) have won nothing. There's no good reason why an inexperienced comper like me should have less chance than an experienced one. Hamster recently won and said his 'perseverance' had paid off. However, many others have entered every day too and not won!
Never mind, we have to keep plugging away and hope for a biggie. You never know, your first win might be something huge, like a car!Wins to date:
Jul 2007: Nintendo DS Lite, Gardening Tools, Bananarama CD, 2 x Women's Open Golf Tickets (worth £50 each)
Aug 2007: Shrek backpack,Tick remover, Firehouse Dog goodies
Sep 2007: Box of Wispas
Oct 2007: £5 Amazon voucher0 -
We get loads of threads like this here and usually soon after the poster has complained about not having a win they get one and it's usually a good one. All I can say is to keep going. Law of averages say that you will have to win at some point. I treat comping as one of my part time jobs now and devote certain times of the day for it. I was comping for 6 months before I won anything and even then it was only a CD, then it was another 3 months before I got another win. Since then though I've won 3 holidays, about £900 in total in money, a camcorder, nintendo DS, CD player and loads more.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I know this isnt really in the same league but its always made me laugh.
Years ago at my local pub they had a prize draw thing, with the main prize being one of those ENORMOUS (posh) teddys. (HUGE!).. One of the men that was alwaaays in the pub.. reeeeally wanted to win it for his grandaughter.
Over the weeks it was on, he would buy more and more tickets each time, (the landlord said he had spent about £30) .. then on the night of the draw another chap came in, bought ONE 50p ticket.. and WON! haha..
ahh the fun of country life..
I'm back off to my tractor.Very proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

It is a matter of time. I got a prize on Saturday for a comp I entered on 12th March. Compers who are regular winners have entered thousands of comps since the start of the year. I tend to enter and forget. If I win its a bonus.
Experienced compers go through long dry spells at times, often ending the spell with a decent win. My prizes fluctuate wildly. In February and May I won loads, but in the first few weeks of April and in June I haven't won much.
The key is to only keep comping if you enjoy the hobby. For me this is the banter on the forum. I could work a lot less hours for the same financial rewards. I enjoy this though and find it relaxing. Any win is a nice bonus. I like the possiblity of coming home to something nice from the postman. It keeps me awake on the drive home from work.0 -
