Giving up work to look after baby....

Hi,
Quick question: I currently work 20 hours a week and get help from CTC, WTC, Housing/council tax Ben & Child benefit.
I'm single and have a 6 month old son who goes to nursery.
My question is, I want to give up work as baby is not getting on well at nursery and don't want to leave him whilst he's upset as I'm finding it very hard.
If I give up my job for this reason, would I be entitled to Income Support / JSA?
Many thanks

yes you would be entitled to IS, you would lose the wtc, but would get maximum HB/CT

Yes you will, but bear in mind the drop of income. £61 for you £45 baby and £17 cb. You will still get your rent and ct paid though.0

Bonnie,
Surely those figures you quoted aren't per month, are they?
Do you think if I went to the jobcentre and said I was thinking of giving up work, they would help me, or would they make me stay in my job?
Thanks for your help0 -
No they are per week. No they can't make you stay in your job if your child is under 5 i believe.0
