I cannot believe what I am reading here, this is not the OP's problem, he has sold the vehicle and properly informed DVLA, He does not need to do anything further. He certainly does not to answer to a PPC, let them sort it out with the DVLA.

I feel that some people, especially some of the higher count members , have become so fixated with sticking it to the PPCs that they have allowed common sense to leave the building.

precisely why he does a soft appeal on that basis, which he has now done

its called "heading them off at the pass", in order to prevent the hassle that was seen in the thread I linked to where another almost identical case already happened

"prevention being better and easier than cure "

no point having all the hassle in future when hopefully a simple appeal sorts it out - fait accompli (also much better if PE are daft enough to issue more court proceedings over it)

But the linked thread shows the hassle the OP would face if he ignores it. And after all we like sticking it to the PPCs!

But surely CM, the best way to stick it to them would be to totally ignore them, turn up at court with a QC, win, and later sue the pants off them. I like to think that that is what I would do.

Fifteen years ago my wife was arrested for alleged shop lifting in Tesco. We elected for a trial in the Crown Court. The CPS backed down and refunded us all our legal expenses. I was all for suing Tesco, but my wife wanted an end to it.

I have taken three people to the CC, and been taken there once myself, and won each time.

How many QCs can you line up for 50 notes at the Small Claims Court - which is about the limit on expenses?

I am not talking about the small claims track, I believe that suing a PPC could be very remunerative in the circumstances outlined here if you are prepared to take a gamble.

I wish more people had the gonads that Roger Davey had, so many on here allow themselves to get pushed around by low life ex clampers.

The purist in me would say 'yes', go with this approach - but at the same time be fully aware of your financial risks (and we're far from talking about the usual 'couple of hundred' at the SCC). If you can afford the risk of losing (thousands) go with it, hit them hard, and bring their house of cards tumbling down.

But I've yet to see any n00b who wants anything more than to get the monkey off their back as soon as possible, and in as risk-free a process as possible.

But, I'm just dying for a 6-number newbie to be receiving a PE NtK through the post and coming here for advice. It will happen ...... sooner or later. :D

if I were lucky enough to win the quad rollover tomorrow night I would gladly fund a fightback in the courts to get some landmark rulings to drop their house of cards to below floor level , especially if we also got a few rulings under the EQUALITY ACT 2010 against landowners and PPC,s in order to help those who seem to really go through the mill with this (like lainiee or the guy in sheffield)

these shysters really need teaching a lesson that actually brings fairness through court rulings that they would not wish to even attempt it without a solid foundation in future

but I gotta be in it to win it !

ps:- I do not believe this OP would be up for it on his own though

I agree, perhaps not this one.

I am shortly buying an investment property in a block of flats "managed" by UKPC, and, once contracts are complete, intend to make life difficult for them.

What fun you could have serving notice on UKPC in advance that you do not recognise them in any way and any attempt to ticket any vehicles relating to your property will result in a court claim for damages for harassment. You could set it out now with costs (a genuine per-estimate of loss!) and you already know about Davey v UKPC. Please do tell us if anything happens; popcorn at the ready!
